Terms of Service
The agreement between you and ChordGrab. Plain English, no surprises.
Last updated: September 9, 2026
These terms govern your use of the ChordGrab mobile app and the chordgrab.com website (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
1. Who can use ChordGrab
You must be at least 13 years old. If you're under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent or guardian's permission. You're responsible for everything that happens under your account, so keep access to your email secure — that's how sign-in works.
2. What the Service does
You paste a YouTube link; we analyse the clip's audio and return a chord chart. At present ChordGrab only supports YouTube links. TikTok and Instagram are not supported yet, and nothing in these terms or on the site should be read as a promise that they will be by any particular date.
3. Chord results are estimates
This matters, so it gets its own section. Chord detection is automated and not guaranteed to be accurate. It can misidentify chords, miss a key change, pick the wrong capo position, or name the wrong song — particularly on noisy recordings, live performances, or unusual tunings. Where the audio couldn't be analysed, the app labels the result as an estimate. Treat every result as a starting point for your ear, not as an authoritative transcription.
4. Content and copyright
ChordGrab does not host, store, or redistribute source videos or recordings. We process a clip's audio transiently to produce a chord chart, which is a factual analysis of what was played.
You are responsible for the links you submit. Only submit content you have the right to access. Do not use the Service to reproduce or distribute copyrighted material in ways your local law doesn't permit.
If you believe something on ChordGrab infringes your rights, email legal@chordgrab.com with the material in question, your contact details, and a statement of your rights. We remove infringing material promptly and terminate repeat infringers.
5. Your content
You keep ownership of everything you post — profile details, community posts, photos, and chord corrections. By posting, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, and distribute that content within the Service, so it can be shown to other users. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for anonymised chord corrections, which other users' results depend on.
6. Acceptable use
Don't:
- Post harassing, hateful, sexually explicit, or illegal content
- Impersonate someone else
- Scrape, resell, or bulk-automate the Service, or hammer it with automated requests
- Attempt to break, probe, or circumvent security or rate limits
- Upload malware, or anything that isn't what it claims to be
We may remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that break these rules, with notice where practical and without it where the violation is serious.
There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour. Every post and comment in the community feed can be reported from the “…” menu on it, and any account can be blocked from the same menu. Blocking removes that person's posts and comments from your feed immediately and notifies us. We review every report, normally within 24 hours, and we remove content and eject the users behind it when it breaks these rules. You can see and undo your blocks under Profile → Blocked accounts.
7. Paid plans
Pro and Max are auto-renewing subscriptions sold inside the ChordGrab iOS app and billed through your Apple ID. Each is available monthly or yearly. The price and period are shown on the Upgrade screen before you buy, in your local currency.
Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews automatically for the same period and price unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Manage or cancel it in your App Store account settings; cancelling stops the next renewal and leaves your access running to the end of the period you have already paid for. Refunds are handled by Apple under the App Store terms.
Changing plan takes effect immediately and the store adjusts what you have already paid. The pricing page on this website is informational — there is no checkout here.
8. Availability and changes
We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service. We'll give reasonable notice of material changes where we can. We don't promise the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
9. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and — explicitly — accuracy of chord detection. Some jurisdictions don't allow these exclusions, in which case they apply to the maximum extent permitted.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ChordGrab is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data or profits. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or $50. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited.
11. Termination
You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from the account deletion page or in the app. We may terminate or suspend your access if you break these terms. Sections 4, 5, 9, 10 and 12 survive termination.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction — except that if you're a consumer, you keep the protections and the right to bring proceedings in the country where you live.
13. Changes to these terms
We'll update the date at the top when these terms change, and notify you in-app for material changes. Continuing to use ChordGrab after a change means you accept the new terms.
14. Contact
