What is a chord player?

A chord player is an app that shows you which chord to play and when, in time with a song, so you can strum along instead of pausing a video every few seconds. ChordGrab is a chord player that works from any YouTube link: it listens to the actual recording and builds the chord timeline for you.

How does the ChordGrab chord player work?

Paste a YouTube link, and ChordGrab fetches the audio on our servers, runs chord recognition over it and lines the chords up with the words being sung. You get a chord sheet with each chord above the word it lands on, plus a scrolling play-along view that highlights the current chord as the song moves.

Can it slow a song down or change the key?

The play-along keeps the original tempo, so it is best used once you can change chords at speed. Transpose (on Pro and Max) shifts the whole song into a key you can play, and beginner shapes (Max) pick the capo fret that turns the most chords into open shapes.

Are the chords accurate?

Chords are detected from the audio, then checked by an AI model that knows how songs are usually written, and they are reliable on most guitar-led recordings. Dense, heavily produced tracks come back as an estimate, the sheet says so, and you can correct any chord with a tap so the next person gets the fixed version.

Does the chord player work with capo songs?

Yes. Detection reports the pitches that sound in the recording, and ChordGrab then works out the capo fret the player most likely used so the shapes you see match what they fingered. A song detected as E, G#m and B is shown as C, Em and G with a capo on the fourth fret, which is what the guitarist in the video is actually doing.
