Links & detection
Which links can I paste?
YouTube links only, for now. That includes youtube.com and youtu.be URLs, plus Shorts. TikTok and Instagram are not supported yet — if you paste one, the app will tell you rather than fail silently.
When are TikTok and Instagram coming?
They are actively being worked on. Both platforms block automated access more aggressively than YouTube, which is the hold-up. We will announce support on this site and in the app the moment it lands, and we are not giving a date we might miss.
The chords are wrong. What now?
Tap the chord and correct it — your fix sticks for you and improves the result for the next person. Detection is automated and imperfect, especially on live recordings, heavy distortion, or unusual tunings.
It says “estimate” under my song. Why?
That means we could not analyse the clip’s audio and fell back to predicting from the title and description alone. Those results are much rougher. It usually means the source was unavailable or the audio service was temporarily down — try again in a few minutes.
Which videos work best?
Guitar covers and tutorials under about a minute, with the guitar clearly audible. Full band mixes, live crowd recordings, and videos with talking over the playing are harder and produce shakier results.
Why was my song instant?
Someone already analysed that exact link, so you got the cached result. Cached songs are free and immediate.
Account
How do I sign in? I never set a password.
There isn’t one. Enter your email and we send a one-time code — paste it in and you’re in. If the code doesn’t arrive, check spam, then confirm the address is spelled right.
The sign-in code never arrives.
Check your spam folder first — one-time codes often land there on the first send. If it still hasn’t arrived after five minutes, write to us with the exact email address you used and we’ll look at the logs.
How do I delete my account?
Profile → Delete account in the app, or use the account deletion page on this site. It is permanent and immediate.
Will my songbook move to a new phone?
Yes, as long as you are signed in on both. Your songbook, profile and community posts sync to your account.
Plans & billing
Am I being charged?
Only if you have bought a plan. ChordGrab is free to use with a monthly allowance of new song detections; Pro and Max are optional subscriptions bought inside the app. Nothing on this website charges you.
How do I cancel a subscription?
In your store account settings, the same as any other app — Settings → your name → Subscriptions on iOS, or Play Store → Payments and subscriptions on Android. Cancelling there stops the renewal; we cannot cancel it for you.
